When we are the center of our own attention,it is easy to desire mercy for ourselves and neglect to show mercy toward others.

I believe this is why the man in the parable who’s debt was forgiven was not able to apply the same mercy to another (See Matthew 18:21-35). But aren’t we all guilty of showing ourselves an exceeding amount of mercy while sparingly rashing out mercy toward another? Think about it.

“Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!”, James  2:12-13 NIV 1984
